Admissions

ADMISSION TO YEAR 3 SEPTEMBER 2024:

The application process for places in Year 3 for September 2024 opens on 1st November 2023. From this day you will be able to submit your application online via the Hampshire County Council admissions website. The closing date for applications will be 15th January 2024. There is more information about this process on the Hampshire Admissions Website.

The application process for Year 3 places at junior schools is a national process with the same deadlines across the country. Applications should be made online. If you are a Hampshire resident you need to use the Hampshire online form. If your home address is in Dorset you need to apply online through the Dorset website (even though you are applying to a Hampshire school). Similarly, if you live in another county you will need to apply to us through your own, local county council.

Our published admissions number for September 2024 will be 60 children, plus some children in the Learning Support Unit. Admissions to the LSU are handled differently (see below).

IN-YEAR ADMISSIONS 2023-24:

If you are moving to the area, or you wish to move your child from a different school mid-year, you have a choice about how you make your application:  Complete the in-year application form on the Hampshire County Council website. They will then forward a copy to us.

Collect a paper application form from us and return it to Ashley Junior School Office directly. We work closely with Hampshire County Council and our admission policy reflects their policy, but as a Foundation School, we are our own admissions authority and we manage our own waiting lists.

Once we receive your application, we will reply within 10 days to let you know if there is a place available. If a place is available, you must be able to take up that place within 4 weeks of the offer being made, otherwise the place will go to the next child on the waiting list.

  • We welcome visits to our school. If you would like to make an appointment to tour the school and meet the Headteacher before making your decision, please get in touch – call the School Office on 01425 616510 or email adminoffice@ajs.hants.sch.uk
  • If you have any questions about admissions, or you would like information about our waiting lists, please call the School Office on 01425 616510 or email adminoffice@ajs.hants.sch.uk

ADMISSION TO THE RESOURCED PROVISION (LEARNING SUPPORT UNIT):

Our Resourced Provision is a specialist unit within the school that caters for children with moderate learning needs. Children in the Resourced Provision all have an EHC Plan (previously known as a statement). Places are extremely limited and extremely sought after. The decision to enrol a child in our Resourced Provision is taken by Hampshire County Council, in liaison with the school. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Hampshire Admissions Team on 0300 555 1377
